Our Beliefs
-
Gospel means “Good News”. And the good news is that the gates into the Kingdom of Heaven have been thrown wide open to all who will receive the free gift of salvation by placing their faith in Jesus Christ. The “With-God” life is available right now for all who think highly enough of Jesus to trust Him with their life.
-
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
-
We believe that there is one living and true God eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
-
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
-
The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to dwell, guide, teach, empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
Our Values
-
We love and respect people regardless of their past. We display Christ-like grace in a world that sorely lacks it. We minister to those who have had the misfortune of experiencing graceless Christianity - those who feel burned, burdened or abandoned by the church in the past.
-
The Good News is that peace with God is possible. By placing our faith in Jesus Christ our relationship with God is restored. Guilty consciences are cleaned. We are given a fresh start. The decision to become a follower of Jesus will change life forever. We teach the Bible in a way that communicates this Good News and makes sense in today's world.
-
We will never be all God intends for us to be apart from complete dependence upon Him. In Christ, we have forgiveness and a fresh start. We are all on a spiritual journey with God.
We value people regardless of where they are on that journey with Him. We believe everyone has a next step to take in their walk with God, and we want to be a church that challenges people to take it in dependance upon Him.
-
At Journey, the practice of Christianity is as important as the instruction of it. We help people use their gifts and talents to make a difference in people's lives around the city and around the world.
